The Process of Meditation Coaching: A Journey to Self-Discovery, Healing & Empowerment

Most people think of meditation as either …

  1. A relaxation tool — a way to calm the mind, reduce stress, or feel more grounded.

  2. A spiritual practice —rooted in Buddhist or yogic traditions, often associated with monks or mystics.

And while both are true, they don’t tell the full story of what Meditation Coaching actually is.

To be fair, Meditation Coaching is a relatively new approach in the coaching and wellness space. It’s not about teaching you how to meditate perfectly or giving you a bunch of techniques. It’s not about fixing you or your life. It’s not goal-oriented like traditional coaching, nor is it limited to breath work or posture.

So what is it?

Meditation Coaching is a transformational journey. It uses meditation as a powerful gateway to inner awareness, emotional healing, and personal empowerment. It helps you access what is real and alive within you—so that inner awareness can lead to meaningful outer shifts.

It’s an integrated, holistic modality that blends the best of:

  • Therapy → honoring the past

  • Coaching → gently moving you forward

  • Meditation → anchoring you in presence

It’s intuitive. Relational. Slow by design.

It’s about remembering who you are—not fixing who you are.

It helps you reconnect to your center, to the quiet inner knowing that has always been there underneath the layers. That’s the heart of this work.

My Own Journey into Meditation Coaching

Like many healers, I had to walk this path myself before guiding others.

My journey into becoming a meditation coach unfolded gradually — just like the process of Meditation Coaching itself.

I trained under Sura Flow, a beautiful and heart-led Meditation Coach Training program, while simultaneously studying at Columbia University’s Teachers College, where I earned my Master’s in Spirituality & Mind-Body Psychology. This dual path — one deeply experiential, the other academically grounded — helped me understand both the science and the soul of transformation.

But what truly opened me was the healing I had to do on my own.

It wasn’t linear. It involved mindfulness, spiritual coaching, emotional unraveling, and the quiet bravery it takes to sit with yourself and see clearly. I learned from a wide range of teachers and traditions — but it wasn’t until I experienced coaching through meditation (and spirituality) that I finally met myself, fully and honestly, for the first time.

And that’s when I knew:

This work is powerful. And it’s meant to be shared.

What Meditation Coaching Looks Like

People often reach out thinking I purely teach meditation. And yes — we can absolutely explore building a personal meditation practice together if that’s what you’re seeking. But that’s not the main goal.

In working with me, meditation is the tool — not the destination.

Throughout each session, we use meditation to ground, to explore, to unpack, to release, and to receive insights from a deeper, more present place. It’s a doorway—not an endpoint.

As your coach, my role isn’t to instruct or fix. It’s to hold space, to mirror what’s emerging, and to gently guide you toward self-led insight and choice.

You do not need to “be good” at meditating (and truly — there’s no such thing as good or bad when it comes to meditation). You don’t need to quiet your mind. You don’t even need a daily practice.

In fact, many of my clients are brand new to meditation — and still find themselves naturally dropping into a meditative state during our sessions.

Why? Because we’re simply present. We’re just in the moment.

And that’s where transformation begins. ✨

And just so you know—Meditation Coaching with me at TLP can take different forms depending on what feels right for you, your timing, and your needs:

  • One-Off Clarity Session — for when you need support processing something big, accessing inner clarity, or finding your next step.

  • 2–3 Month Journey (or longer) — for those wanting to build a sustainable meditation practice while navigating a personal shift, life transition, or deeper self-alignment.

  • Ongoing Bundled Sessions — for continued check-ins, integration, and realignment—on your own terms, in your own rhythm.

This process is both accountable and flexible.

It meets you wherever you are—whether you’re seeking deep transformation or simply a space to come home to yourself.

Common Misconceptions & Resistance

As mentioned above, one of the most common self-perceptions people have around meditation is:

“I’m bad at it.”

Or: “There’s no way I can ever clear my mind.”

Or: “I don’t have time to commit to a daily practice, so what’s the point?”

So the idea of committing to a 2–3 month journey — let alone a few weeks—can feel really intimidating.

I just want to say: all of that is completely okay and so normal to feel.

Meditation Coaching with me is a flexible, personalized experience. I want to help you debunk the myth that there’s a “perfect” way to meditate. There’s not. There’s no right way to start. You can come as you are — overwhelmed, numb, uncertain. We can work with that. In fact, that’s often where the most meaningful work begins.

If a full journey feels like too much, that’s okay. You can begin with a single session. And if that feels good, we can go from there. Or not.

This work will meet you where you are.

But the only thing I ask of you is this:

You have to show up.

Whether it’s one session or many, this isn’t about passive healing. I can’t do the work for you — but I will walk with you, every step of the way.

You don’t have to wait until you “feel better” or “ready.”

In fact, sometimes the best time to come is when you don’t.

One of my clients, Winnie, a CEO and mother of five, once said something that really stayed with me:

“I would never recommend your work to someone who’s not ready to do the deep work. Because if they’re not at the stage to truly show up for themselves, then your sessions will just feel like ‘another meditation session’—and what you do is simply not in the same caliber.”

I’m so grateful for her words, because she captured it beautifully.

This isn’t to add pressure — it’s simply an invitation to honor what this work really is. I’ll meet you exactly where you are. We’ll go at your pace.

But you have to take the steps. I’ll hold the space — you do the walking.

What Makes Meditation Coaching Different?

If someone asked me to explain Meditation Coaching in simple words, I’d say:

My style of guidance and support is a coaching process that intentionally uses meditation as a powerful and creative tool to help you access your soul, connect with your truth, and — over time — transform from the inside out.

Unlike traditional coaching, where you might be asked, “What’s your goal today?”, our Meditation Coaching sessions begin with a grounding meditation, a check-in, or simply a moment of stillness — so we can truly listen to what your center, your heart, and your spirit are asking.

It’s not about solving surface-level problems (though those naturally get addressed in the process). It’s about becoming more present, more whole, more you, so you can move through those challenges with clarity and inner strength — starting from the root.

Over time, many of my long-term clients naturally develop a meditation practice that’s uniquely their own, woven into their daily lives in ways that feel sustainable and personal.

But the goal was never to become a “perfect” meditator.

The real goal?

To return home to your truest self.

As one client graciously described her journey with me:

“Jessica changed my life from day one. Thanks to her, I gained knowledge about myself and ownership of my energy, which I had felt was scattered and out of control. As a result, I used to experience anxiety and suffered from loads of stress—that affected my relationships with others and with myself. Since working with Jessica, I’ve gained self-knowledge, self-love, self-compassion, and self-respect. The implications of that are immeasurable. I truly feel I’m in a new chapter of my life.”

🪷 I just want to take a moment to acknowledge how powerful this reflection is.

It captures the essence of Meditation Coaching: learning to lovingly accept who you’ve been while stepping into who you truly are. It was an honor to walk beside this free-spirited creative and community leader — a living example of what can unfold when we say yes to our inner journey.

Client Story: From Survival to Inner Stillness

I want to share two client stories with you—not just to explain the process, but to reflect the real, felt experience for both the client and myself.

Last year, a beautiful client in her early 30s came to me shortly after completing chemotherapy. Out of all the coaches and teachers she had access to, she chose to work with me — simply based on an intuitive feeling (which I’m deeply grateful for).

She had once been a fast-moving tech entrepreneur, always outdoors, always on the go. But everything shifted after her cancer diagnosis. When she arrived at our first session, she was exhausted, overwhelmed, and emotionally shut down. She hadn’t yet had the time — or the space — to fully process all the pain she’d been through over the past year.

I remember our first Clarity Session so clearly. We sat together in a dimly lit room at Infinium, and I guided her into a gentle grounding meditation so she could reconnect with her heart. She had never experienced Meditation Coaching before, but quickly dropped into a deeply connected state. As tears streamed down her cheeks, she told me later that it was the first time she had cried throughout her entire healing journey.

That session wasn’t about doing a lot. We meditated, we allowed silence, we asked simple questions, and we gave her heart space to speak. In that stillness, her body, mind, and emotions finally synced — allowing grief, fear, and release to move through her.

What started as a single session evolved into a 3-month journey of reflection and realignment. By our sixth session, she had begun accepting a slower, more intentional pace in life. Her priorities shifted. She could feel herself again.

The process wasn’t about progress in the traditional sense. It was about presence. It was about holding space for what needed to arise — no pressure, no rush. Just meeting her exactly where she was.

Client Story: Four Years of Evolution

The second story is about a client who’s been with me for over four years.

I still remember our very first online session. She broke down almost immediately, overwhelmed by the weight of what she had carried for so long. Years of pain had left her with deep self-doubt — impacting her relationships, her career, and most of all, her relationship with herself.

We began a slow and steady journey, moving at her pace. Weekly sessions became biweekly, then monthly. In every session, layers began to unravel. Old wounds were seen. Truths were spoken. Each time, something clear and honest about herself emerged.

Our rhythm hasn’t changed. We start with a check-in, grounding into body and breath. There’s often extended silence. And in that stillness, her truth rises — gently, naturally — as I intuitively guide with coaching questions.

Today, I believe she has fully reclaimed her power. She’s confident and clear in her uniqueness, making meaningful strides in her professional life, and attracting relationships that truly honor her authenticity.

She still meets with me monthly. And no two sessions are ever the same.

Sometimes we sit in silence. Sometimes we explore questions. Sometimes we simply process joy.

But always—we return to presence.

As she often says with a smile, “Wow, Jessica. Even after all this time, this can still happen.”
